Weekend Recap!

Well friends, as always the weekend flew by and I feel like I need another weekend to recover from my weekend!  If only we could work that out somehow.

But alas, today was back to work - we have lots of training this week and a different grade level is bringing breakfast each day!  That sure makes coming to work a little easier, knowing a yummy breakfast is waiting, hah, but not so fantastic for the waist line.  Whoops!  Thursday is open house & I get to see all my kiddos, and Friday I'm off to meet B in Michigan for the weekend - should be a good week! :)

But back to my weekend recap...

Friday night we fought off the rain & headed downtown to get our tailgate on!

My partner in crime :)  And a rude photobomber!

The men!

A sweet friend from school gave us their tickets for the night and we scalped a few more!  The game was so fun and my Panthers were looking pretty good!!

A little blurry but I love the background!

The night was going perfectly according to plan - rain held off, fun was being had by all, a new Panthers shirt was bought, the Panthers were winning (and won!), and then I had to go and ruin the night by dropping my phone in the toilet!!

Did you get that!?  Yes, I dropped my phone in a dirty pee toilet!!!

You see....my phone was in my back pocket, I went into the bathroom as we were about to leave the stadium, and as I was sitting, my phone fell out of my back pocket into the toilet.  Unfortunately, I did not see it at that point, and proceeded to pee on my phone!  {Sorry, TMI?!?  Haha}

Then, I stood up to fasten my pants and proceeded to turn & flush the toilet only to realize first, that, oh yes, that is my phone in the toilet & second, the toilet is FLUSHING!!!  Automatic flush!

Thankfully {or maybe not} my phone was too big & didn't flush down the toilet.  So you better believe after it flushed I stuck my hand down in that dirty pee toilet and grabbed my water logged phone!

I was basically in a state of shock!!  I have a mild {ok, extreme} addiction to my phone and never in my 10 years of owning cell phones have I completely ruined one.

Until Friday night.

Upon getting home, I put my phone in a bag of rice and it stayed there until about 4 pm Saturday.  I tried plugging it into my computer, but nothing would happen!  The apple would pop up, then go away, but even when it popped up it looked...wet.  Haha.

So I spent the weekend phoneless and contemplating my options.

Saturday, we attempted to sleep in and I attempted to pretend my phone wasn't ruined!  We watched a few episodes of Dexter Season 6 (!!!) and finally convinced ourselves to work out.

We had friends over Saturday night to cook out & Berkley got to meet 2 doggy friends, Rookie & Hugo!  I'd love to show you pictures, but I didn't have a phone, so therefore none were taken :(

It was fun to hang out, watch the pups play, and just enjoy each other!!  We have some great friends!

Sunday was a lazy morning with more Dexter & I went to upgrade my phone :/  Thankfully, I was eligible for an upgrade, but I upgraded to the white iPhone 4S (I had the iPhone 4) which wasn't exactly cheap.

B was none too thrilled.  Expensive mistake friends!!!  PSA - Ladies, do not keep your phone in your back pocket when going to the restroom!!  Please and thank you!  You're welcome :)

We finished our Sunday off with a long workout, the grocery store, some laundry, and fighting off the Sunday night blues!

Another work week, but B is home tomorrow night before flying out Wednesday, I have a working phone & a great week ahead...I guess I can't complain!

Happy Monday, y'all!

Back from the Beach!

Welp, all good things must come to an end.  Alas, our beach trip ended Friday night and I made my way home back to my husband, kitty cat, and house by way of my parents who were breaking up their trip back to Georgia!

We had such a fun week at the beach!!  My family has been beach hopping for the past few years and haven't found one to call our "own" just yet.  Last year we visited Corolla, in the Outer Banks of NC.  Carolina Beach might just be in the running to be "our beach", though!  We really enjoyed our stay there!  It has such a small beach town feel, but yet, lots of good restaurants within a 5-10 minute drive.

We had a great 3 story house 2 blocks from the beach.  Every day we'd set up our tents nice and early and mosey on down usually sometime after breakfast and before lunch.  It was so nice to enjoy a leisurely pace, so different from life at home!

I didn't really blog or tweet much, just a few Instagrams here and there.  It was a nice technology break for a bit!  Sometimes just necessary during vacay!

We enjoyed lunches on the beach and on the pier, taking turns cooking dinner, going out for dinner, playing Settler's of Cataan, filling out the baby pool for Josh & Callie's new addition, laughing at all the entertainment the kids provided, laughing with each other, shopping, eating way too much, and just soaking up sweet moments together!

My heart is full!

Here is our week in pictures...

Waiting at the SeaWitch for our house to be ready last Saturday!

Gorgeous view from the upper deck of our house!

Once we got settled in the house we headed for the mad house also known as the grocery store!  Time to stock up for the week for 16 people - that equals a whole lotta groceries!!  That night no one was cooking though, we ordered amaze balls pizza from Uncle Vinny's!!

Just chillen with Mimi :)

Uncle Scott & Aunt Stacy vs. Rob & Gale in Ladder Golf

Ladder Golf was by far the best purchase we've made so far!  Everyone had so much fun playing at the beach!!  B and I remained undefeated the whole week :) pros pretty much!

Drinks for the week :)

Playing Settler's of Cataan...

...and taking ridiculous pics, obvi :)

Including a few with CamWow..this one was too good not to

B passed by our Shack on his run :)

Rockin' Uncle B's sunglasses

Beach!

Monday night we tried out Michael's Seafood Restaurant!  I highly recommend it!!  Best Chowder in the world apparently, and pretty great shrimp and crab legs in my opinion :)

Dinner is served and then devoured!!

Mmmm Mmmm Mmmmmm I love crab!  Crab Crab Crab

Couples at dinner!

Tuesday morning photo sesh with nieces & nephews :)

Diggin' again with Uncle Brandon

We brought out all 3 tents Tuesday as my Uncle Steve, Auntie Anne, Cousins Nikki, Betty Anne & Scott and their baby James made a day visit from Raleigh!  Of course I failed to take any pictures of them...ughh!  Tuesday was also B's last full day, he left Wednesday morning to work for the rest of the week.  Yuck!

Look at this cutie who stole my phone!

My and my Ro :)

Wells wanted to be buried!  Haha, it was bright!

Our view from the pier for lunch!

Wednesday a few of us walked down and discovered the pier restaurant - you can eat outside right in your bathing suit!  It's attached to the Ocean Grille and we liked it so much, we ate there again Thursday and went to the actual restaurant part for dinner Thursday night!

Uncle Rob & Wells after dinner

Thursday night they have live music on the pier and fireworks!  It was a pretty great ending I must say.

What!?  It's the last day!?!?

Yep, last day :(

Until next time East Coast...

Musings of the Week

Happy Friday, y'all!!  We made it to another weekend, bless it.  Grab a refreshing drink and hold on for the ride....here are some of the highlights of my week and other rando streams of thought....

1. Apparently this week was National Teacher Appreciation Week (although my school celebrated last week?) and my friend and former fellow teacher, Ashley, sent me this!

Amen!

Bahahaha...I really wanted to upload it to Facebook (a friend tagged me in it!) but decided I shouldn't.  And that I would just post it on my blog instead.  Ha!  This is funny stuff and so true!

2 - This picture also made me smile this week...

You can't see it, but my hand is raised also!

Don't get me wrong, I definitely have thoughts and feelings on this topic and definitely have serious concerns about the size of our government and/or their designation of rights or lack there of...but WOW!  I mean Facebook & Twitter have been blown up with everyone and their mom's opinions (and their brother's and grandpa's...ok you get the idea) and it's all just a little overwhelming.

All I know is I may not know what tomorrow holds, but I know the One who holds tomorrow and I really liked these words from Antoine de Saint-Exupery

"As for your future, your task is not to foresee it, but to enable it."

So onto far less controversial topics.... ;)

3 - I cut these beauties from our yard this week!  Gorgeous right?!

I love hydrangeas!  One of my favorite flowers for sure.  Sadly, I had to move them to the mantle, I heard they're poisonous to cats/dogs fyi.  But they still look pretty from there :)

Looking at them gives me hope, that although I had nothing to do with the growth of this fantastic plant, I can have the desire and will to grow other such beautiful plant life in my yard!  So here's to hoping!

4 - Benson is probably the coolest cat ever and cracks me up.  He finds the oddest "comfy" spots to hang out...this is now where he hangs while I get ready in the am :)

5 - I'm obsessed with my new breakfast of champions!

I've been making enough breakfast sandwiches for the week the past 2 Sundays and they're delish!  I love eating one every morning!  I would also love a skinny vanilla latte every morning, but alas my wallet and my waistline probably wouldn't.  So I only visit the mermaid once or twice a week!

6 - I also have a new fav snack I thought I'd share {thanks to Dr. Oz and my friend Andrea who actually watched Dr. Oz and told me about this snack}....

Slice your apple, throw it in a bag, add a few splashes of lemon juice and cinnamon to taste, shake and bake (ok I got carried away, don't actually bake!) and eat!  Delish!!  It's like healthy happy pie.  You're welcome!

7 - Have you seen the iPhone commercials with Zooey Deschanel or Samuel Jackson?  They're all having a conversation with Siri and she's taking care of their every request.  Ugh...makes me want a Siri real bad!  But I'll just hold out for the iPhone 5 - whenever that may come out!

8 - I've really been trying to go to bed earlier.  I'm one of those people that requires a lot of sleep and I stay up wayyy to late for someone who wakes up at 545 daily.  3 out of 4 nights this week I've been in bed before 11!  That is a feat for me, y'all!  And I like it.  I'm gonna try to keep this up.

9 - I'm so stinkin' excited it's Friday!!  I'm trying a new recipe tonight, we're going to work in the yard tomorrow and reward our hard work with a date night!

10 - Hope your weekend is shaping up to be just as fantastic!!

Confessional Friday

It's Friday y'all, you know the drill!  Time for a little weekly confessing with Leslie... so hold on to your seat cause here we go! :)

1 - Birthday week started early!!  Last night, B surprised me with a present I'd really been wanting!

Love!!  Super cute, right?!

2 - You read correctly, I said birthday week.  I'm a firm believer that birthday's are too much fun to just be celebrated for one day.  You gotta spread the celebrating out!!

3 - To celebrate my birthday, I think a lot of, ahem some spring shopping is in order! Brandon doesn't quite feel this is the best way to celebrate...I have some convincing to do.

4 - For being a 'short' week...it sure felt really long.  Even with the 2 teacher workdays at the beginning of the week.  I usually feel like a small mac truck has run me over by Friday nights.  This week is no different, but the couch sure is comfy - I'm sinking into it as we speak :)

5 - Turns out what I thought was a cooking fail, actually turned out to be quite a success!  B loved the granola bars I made!!  And after I got over the peanut-buttery-ness, I really liked 'em too!

I'm going to make some again this weekend - switch up the ingredients a bit.  Not so much peanut butter and adding a little Justin's Chocolate Hazelnut Butter.  They'll still be kinda healthy, right?

6 - Speaking of healthy, I've been craving some good cupcakes lately.  I think I might need to make some for my birthday!  Yes, yes I need to do that!

7 - Surely cupcakes will be good for my calorie counter & my waistline right!?  As I'm sure the Chocolate Peanut Butter Malted Milk Balls I picked up today at Earthfare are!  Oh wait... actually probably not.

8 - I try to not over indulge, but I have to indulge every now in then.  Or else I'd straight up binge!  This week I may have over indulged a wee bit, though.  Darn those teacher workdays and eating lunch out and my chocolate cravings!!  This occurred to me on the treadmill yesterday as I was struggling through a run...

'If you feed your body crap, it will look like crap and perform like crap!!'

You'd think I'd learn this!!  Anytime I go for that piece of chocolate, I'm going to repeat this in my head.  Over and over again!  After tonight and those chocolate peanut butter malted milk balls, that is ;)  And birthdays are an exception right?

9 - House hunting quite possibly might be the death of me!!!  What an emotional roller coaster.  Holy cow!!  It also might be the death of my husband - I could likely drive him to insanity over it :)  Pray for us!  Haha

10 - On an exciting note, we're off to see some houses tomorrow - possibly 4 of 'em!!  Ya never know, we could see 'the one' tomorrow!!!  I have high hopes!

I'm outta confessions and we're puttin' Dexter in!  Happy weakend, y'all!!! :)

Wordless Wednesday

Ok, well I lied!  Not completely wordless.  You know me (or maybe you don't! - but if you did, you'd know), I'm hardly ever without any words!  This might quite possibly be the silliest post I've ever done/will ever do (well, never say never), but I couldn't resist!

This past Friday night while out (at a bar) with friends, my friend Kelly mentioned an app called CamWow on her iPhone.  I, of course, immediately downloaded it.  Literally, playing with this app was pretty much all we did the rest of the night.  We were the weirdos at the bar playing on my phone :)  The boys kept taking it from me!

The fun with this app continued all weekend!  If you have an iPhone - go download this app RIGHT NOW!!

If you have to pee...please do so before viewing these pictures :)  You've been warned!!

Enjoy!!

The inbred Brady Bunch ;)

Did you pee your pants laughing!?!  Cause I almost do every time I look at these again!!

Happy hump day friends!!
